Frequently Asked Questions

How long are your sessions?

Portrait sessions usually last between 30 minutes - 1.5 hours. Newborn sessions usually last about 3 hours. Military homecomings can last 45 minutes to 7-8 hours. Session length depends on how many people are participating in the photo session, cooperation, set/outfit changes, etc. 

What does the session fee cover?

The session fee covers the time and talent of the photographer, pre-session planning, access to Krystal Rose Photography's client closet and prop collection, travel within Twentynine Palms, your session time, full retouching of all final images, and a photo reveal appointment in the studio. Digital images and printed products are sold separately. Collections begin at $350 and a la carte options begin at $65. For a full menu of the products we offer, click here.

Why do we meet in person for the photo reveal?

As a photographer, it's my job to ensure you're 100% happy with your finished portraits and help you choose which items may work best for your family. At your appointment, you'll be presented with your finished portraits in a custom slideshow set to music, you'll be able to feel my product samples, see size differences, and ask any questions you may have. These appointments are a complimentary service to my clients. 

If you're not available for your photo reveal appointment or simply don't want to/can't meet in person, a Skype/Facetime/video chat reveal appointment can be scheduled. 

Online galleries with no reveal can be arranged at the discretion of the photographer. An online gallery fee may apply.

The reveal and ordering appointment is optional for military homecomings and events.

 An online gallery will be made available to you and sent via email for these sessions. No online gallery fee will apply.

What types of sessions do you offer?

Couples/Engagement, Family, Maternity, Children, Military Homecoming, Elopement, Newborn, Birth, and Fresh 48 sessions.

What makes you different from all the other photographers in the area?

I am a full service photographer. This means I'm there with you every step of the way. We'll plan your session to the last detail- from outfit styling, makeup, and poses to  helping you choose the best artwork for your family. I'll show you how your images will look on your walls, what sizes work best, and what printing medium matches your style. I'll even install your artwork for you, if desired. All photos are meticulously hand edited and full skin retouching is included in the session fee to ensure you look your best. Anything that isn't a permanent part of you is removed. 

My focus is preserving special moments in your life in high quality artwork for you to pass down through your family's generations.

What products do you offer? How much do your prints cost?

All prints and products I offer are printed through a professional print lab. They are all archival quality and will last 100+ years with proper care. My computer is calibrated to match my print lab's specifications and monitors. This means your prints, albums, and wall art will all be true to color and not have any strange hues. Do you have any special offers?

Do you offer military/emergency personnel discounts?

YES! Absolutely! Military and emergency personnel receive 10% off their session fee if they'll be in civilian clothing for the session or 15% off their session fee if they'll be in uniform for the session. This discount cannot be combined with any other discounts or special offers and cannot be used on mini sessions, model calls, military homecomings, or events. 

Do you do sessions in Joshua Tree National Park?

Yes! However, JTNP requires a photography permit. This fee of $120 will be added to your invoice if you'd like to shoot there. There are many other picturesque photo locations scattered around our Morongo Basin to choose from as well! Please contact me if you'd like to schedule a location tour!

Do you offer payment plans?

I do! I offer an in-house payment plan that is custom-tailored to you. A 30% down payment is required to begin a payment plan with Krystal Rose Photography. Images will not be released until payment is made in full.
